Qualification and Experience
I am training as an Integrative Psychotherapist, which means I use elements from different schools of psychotherapy in order to tailor the therapy to each individual’s needs. My focus is very much on you as a person, what you bring to the sessions, what your needs are in a particular moment of your life. And in that moment, to meet you with compassion and relational depth, as well as a suitable theoretical framework.
As part of my therapy training, I have gained valuable insights into working with trauma, abuse, and neurodiversity during my work for a homeless charity. My career in Finance gave me a good understanding of the stress levels involved in many corporate careers, the weight of expectations, and the effects that this can have on relationships in and out of work and health in general.
I am a member of the UKCP (UK Council of Psychotherapy) and train at Metanoia Institute in London.
My Approach to therapy
At the heart of therapeutic change is a trusting alliance between the therapist and client. I aim to offer a safe space for open exploration of an individual’s difficulties and needs, and I bring a non-judgemental, sensitive, and relational approach to each client. Within my integrative framework, I like to work in a psychodynamic manner, linking the client’s present to their past and future. I believe early attachments in life are important to explore and often enhance relationships going forward. Depending on the client, I use CBT and mindfulness based approaches to help individuals find their window of tolerance, feel supported in difficult periods and connect with themselves and their environment.
Current Work and Interest
I like to work across a broad spectrum of issues, but some of my areas of interest include trauma, relationship difficulties, depression and anxiety, loss, sexuality, gender/race/neurodiversity, intersectionality and inter-generational trauma. I work with a range of clients from different backgrounds and across different age groups for both long and short periods of time. Sessions can be either in-person or online.
