Do you ever feel like you’re trying to piece together the puzzle of life, navigating how all the pieces should fit? In these moments, sometimes all we need to merge the puzzle is a fresh perspective! My passion lies in supporting you as you nurture your self-development journey.
My Approach
Taking the first step and asking for support can be challenging; much like any new endeavour, overcoming obstacles is a part of the journey! In my approach, I work to prioritise your journey through creating a non-judgemental space where you can openly explore and unfold your experiences. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, which is why I prefer to work from an integrative modality—tailoring our work to focus on everything that makes you uniquely you. This means we’ll work together collaboratively, drawing from a blend of approaches to create a path that feels right for you.
While therapy is often perceived to be a haven for expressing negative experiences, I invite you to extend this to celebrate your positive ones. My philosophy lies in reaffirming your strengths and individuality. Ultimately, I work to compassionately empower your journey of self-discovery through shedding light on your uniqueness and navigating challenges to reach your desired goals.
Educational Background and Experience
Reflecting on my academic background, my undergraduate degree significantly expanded my understanding of the core concepts of psychology. This was then further enhanced with my postgraduate degree, where I really found value in person-centred approaches.
To put this into practice, I started my role as an Assistant Clinical Psychologist at ChAT Services, where I have had the pleasure of collaborating with various mental health professionals, gaining a holistic therapeutic understanding from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Throughout my time at ChAT, I have not only been given insights into practitioner roles but was also offered the opportunity to closely engage with a diverse clientele, particularly individuals with neurodiversities and/or learning difficulties. Recognising the significance of delivering findings and tailoring interventions, I have assisted in writing reports aligning with NICE guidelines and diagnostic criteria while promoting a neuro-affirmative approach.
This experience has built on my previous role as a one-to-one support worker in a school, where I assisted children diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, and ODD. My work involved equipping them with a range of strategies to adapt their learning and effectively cope with any hurdles. At the same time, working in a school setting taught me the challenges support workers may face, allowing me to contribute to the re-evaluation of interventions where necessary.
Currently, I am completing my doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy which is giving me further opportunities to home in on my clinical skills and understanding of evidence-based therapeutic techniques. I also work with clients both online and face-to-face, providing support for a range of mental health challenges.
Current Work and Interest
I have an interest in working across a range of difficulties. I am particularly drawn to working with people with ADHD as we unpack the unique strengths that come with a diagnosis and learn to overcome the challenges together. Whether it is about understanding your presentation, managing your difficulties, or learning to communicate them, I find deep fulfilment in this work. Beyond this, my passions extend to the facilitation of integrating various cultural perspectives and coping with these hardships.
